91 university students will complete their education in EDP
The program of Scholarships Martín González del Valle has been presented today in a 100% digital event that took place in Facebook live.
The new edition of the program of Scholarships Martín González del Valle is already up and running, and it began this morning with an online welcome to the 91 students from the University of Oviedo, from more than 25 specialties, that will be incorporating to EDP to carry out a training internship during the course 2020-2021.
The welcome day of the scholarships’ program took place, for the first time, through a digital event, live broadcasted on Facebook through the account EDP Spain. The open emission counted with the participation of the vice rector of the Students from the University of Oviedo, Elisa Miguélez, and the director of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins. Both participated in the event from their usual teleworking space and wanted to wish good luck to the students in their first professional experience. The director of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins, asked the students for an “additional effort, as well as resilience and collaboration, to adapt the program to this new reality.”
Then, the students received a training, performed by some of their future colleagues, through the Microsoft Teams platform. In these introductory sessions they were introduced to important aspects of sustainability, digital communication, generation, distribution… and all the activities from the Group EDP, making their learning and integration in the company easier.
This course will be different due to the health conditions that we are living, and students will complement their academic background in different areas and workplaces, when possible, or through telework. The internships will be carried out in a hybrid work modality, combining the on-sit working in the office with the remote working. For this to be possible, all interns will be provided with laptops by the system department of EDP.
The internships are paid and have a duration of up to ten months. The students, that will be incorporating to their destinations the following November 3, will count at all times with the help from the tutor, that will train them and will supervise their work.
After a period of scholarships application, in September, the University of Oviedo selected these 91 students, from more than 25 specialties, from the different Faculties and Schools, as well as students that are doing a master. Degrees include electrical engineering, chemistry, economics and law.
Thanks to this program, the most renowned from the University of Oviedo and allocated with 700 000 euros, students receive a training that is key for their incorporation to the business world. In addition to the agreement with the University of Oviedo, EDP Foundation also has agreements with other Spanish universities and schools, like the University of the Basque Country, to promote the students training in the installations and work centers that the company has in other communities.
