EDP gives its new domestic customers the 1st month of electricity consumption

While also improving conditions of its current customers with discounts that reach up to 7% in electricity consumption

EDP revolutionizes the commercialization of energy in Spain. The energy company just launched a new promotion giving its new domestic customers in open market the first month of electricity consumption with the product "Máximo Ahorro 24 horas". The promotion is active until the end of the year.


In addition to this promotion, new and current customers can enjoy the same price of electricity 24 hours a day and different discounts with this new rate, reaching maximum savings of 7% in electricity consumption and 20% in the fixed rate of gas. When first contracting of the maintenance service, Funciona, they will also benefit from a 50% discount for a year.


Another advantage that all domestic EDP customers enjoy in the free market is that they consume 100% renewable electricity, a differentiating factor that is managed through the CNMC's Electricity Origin Guarantees System.


Customers can also enjoy the program of points of the company, through which they can get several gifts and tickets for events.


With this new rate, EDP once again positions itself as a close and innovative company, with the most advantageous solutions adapted to its customers. It was the first company to launch a dual offer on the market, as well as the only one that offers a dual maintenance service -Funciona-.


Campaign "Herencias"


This promotion goes hand in hand with the second wave of EDP's advertising campaign, "Herencias", by which EDP invites people to "choose the energy they want to be".


The campaign reveals, through different personal situations and in a humorous way, how life is full of heritages and that, sometimes, inheritance is not so good. According to a study this year *, 52% of Spaniards have not chosen the energy company that they have contracted in their home or company. They "inherit" their energy contracts for different reasons: by tradition, because it was the only company that existed in the area or because it was already hired in the house when they bought or rented it.

The electric trading company that grows the most


This promotion reinforces the growth of EDP in Spain. According to the report of the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) on the evolution of the retail market in 2017, EDP was the electricity sales company that grew the most, with 65,169 new customers, which translates into an increase in the commercial portfolio of 6%. The share of the company in the free market stands at 5%.


EDP also grew in gas, with 32,000 new customers, a growth of the gas portfolio of 4% compared to 2016, which places it with a market share of 13%.


This important growth is due, above all, to the company's commercial strategy in expansion areas, such as the Community of Madrid, Galicia and Andalusia, and reflects the high rate of customer loyalty, over 80%.


* Quantitative study conducted by the company Ikerfel for EDP España, to know the reasons of choice for energy companies. To analyze satisfaction, image and positioning of energy suppliers in households through three groups: customers, non-customers and dropouts. The sample was 1,233 telephone surveys to holders of contracts of energy services at homes, men and women between the ages of 20 and 80 in Spain. The fieldwork was carried out in February and March 2018.
