EDP stars in the Maratón Valencia Trinidad Alfonso EDP

The fastest race in Spain continues on growing, now with triumph of Sammy Kitwara in the male category and the female victory of Aberu Mekuria Zennebe

The Trinidad Alfonso EDP ncia Marathon took another step forward looking to be a benchmark worldwide with the victory of Sammy Kitwara, who won the best marathon in Spain with a time of 2:05:15, consolidating a new record of the race organized by the SD Correcaminos and the City Council of Valencia, and with EDP's sponsorship.

Evans Kiplagat Chebet crossed the finish line of the fastest marathon in Spain at 2:05:30 while Deribe Robi Melka, the third in the men's podium, did so in 2:06:38. The female victor of the Trinidad Alfonso Alfonso EDP ncia Marathon was Ethiopian Aberu Mekuria Zennebe, with a time of 2:26:17. After her, Mazuronak Volha in 2:27:14 and, in third position, Winny Jepkorir with a time of 2:27:18.

The first Spaniards to finish the 37th edition of the Trinidad Alfonso EDP ncia Marathon 2017 in the City of Arts and Sciences were Mohamed Abdesalam and Elena Moreno. Abdesalam took the EDP hy for the fastest male Spanish runner with a time of 2:17:50, while Moreno finished with a time of 2:38:11, getting the EDP hy for the fastest female Spanish runner.

EDP is also present at Expo Deporte with a stand. There, the runners could learn about EDP's offers and take advantage of the promotion of reimbursement of the amount of the entry fee by becoming customers. They also got acquainted with the EDP er Icon initiative (www.runnericon.com), which asks for signatures in a petition to ask Internet search engines to include the "running" option on their maps.

In this weekend full of excitement and sport, the athlete Martin Fiz trained on Saturday morning with the paired runners formed thanks to the platform "Share your energy" (www.compartetuenergia.com) that EDP otes (with the support from ONCE and FEDC) to unite blind people who want to run with runners willing to guide them.

In addition, the Santiago Grisolía Auditorium, in the City of Arts and Sciences, hosted the premiere of the documentary "Mujeres que Corren," sponsored by the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation and EDP. In it, the Asturian journalist Cristina Mitre reviews the history of women's sport and the challenges faced by the pioneers of Spanish athletics.
