EDP supplies natural gas for free to the EMULSA fleet during the state of alarm
The municipal company has 15 vehicles powered by compressed natural gas
The natural gas-powered vehicles of the Municipal Urban Environment Services Company of Gijón (EMULSA) are being refueled for free at the EDP ecostation located in Roces. This is one of the measures that the energy company has taken in order to acknowledge and contribute to the relevant work of the municipal company these days.
This initiative was implemented on March 9 and it will be extended while the state of alarm is established. It strengthens the agreement that both entities maintain since 2017 regarding the promotion of sustainable mobility in Gijón.
Currently, EMULSA has 15 gas-powered vehicles, 4 of which are heavy – heavy trucks for waste and furniture collection – and 11 are light vehicles – vans.
EMULSA’s commitment to use this fleet is part of the actions that the company has been developing for years in order to reduce its polluting emissions and contribute to the improvement of the city’s air quality.
For EDP, this initiative adds to the diverse actions that it is developing to help reduce the impact of the current situation caused by the new coronavirus, Covid-19.
