Thanks to the signed agreement, the Association of Communities of Irrigators of the Duero Basin can make the purchase of energy for full years

The Ferduero Association, representing 134 irrigation communities, agreed to renew the electricity supply contract with EDP. The reduction of the bill through the optimization of energy consumption, together with the professionalism and good care of the EDP gers have been key factors in the deal, after a call attended by 12 trading companies.

The contract for the supply was signed by the president of Ferduero, Angel González Quintanilla, at the headquarters of the Association; and the Director of Sales to Large Customers of EDP ña, Javier Cabezudo Peláez.

The agreement, active from this month of April and with a duration of two years, contemplates an estimated annual consumption of 56 GWh / year, for an annual amount close to 7.5 million euros. 30 members of the Association benefit from this contract, although other members may join.

This is the second renewal of the electricity supply contract carried out by the Association with EDP, which maintains the advantage of setting prices based on the evolution of the futures market (OMIP). The Association decides what prices it is interested in closing in each quarter of the year, depending on the closing prices that the electricity market signals to futures, thus converting these variable prices into fixed prices for each of the periods. In this way, the Association can close the most advantageous prices for each of the quarters. They can also make the purchase of energy for full years.

In addition to these advantages in the contracting modality, the novelty of this contract lies in the fact that EDP es at the disposal of the Association the best techniques and energy solutions on the market to improve the energy efficiency of the Communities. Thus, the company will carry out power factor studies with proposals to acquire corrective equipment; studies of optimization of power and combination of electrical energy with alternative renewable energies, such as photovoltaics; collaboration in technical conferences; proposals to carry out energy audits and a computer program that facilitates the evaluation of system efficiency.

The Association of Communities of Irrigators of the Duero Basin maintains in this contract the ACTIR and OPTIMA energy services, applications that allow the irrigators to adopt the necessary measures to carry out the optimization of the contracted power, controlling both the cost of the excesses of power as that of reactive energy.

Value-added services such as ACTIR and OPTIMA are part of EDP's strategy to provide flexible and innovative solutions to its customers, which allow them to access the most competitive energy prices and relevant savings in their consumption, as well as adapting to the maximum service to the needs of each client.

The Community also maintains the personalized technical advice of a team of managers during the 24 months of validity of the new contract, which will allow them to have a more exhaustive control of the cost of energy. In addition, irrigators will continue to have access to information on all energy supplies, in an accessible and configured web environment through www.edpenergia.es.

With this new contract, EDP rs Ferduero, which brings together more than a hundred irrigation communities of the Duero basin, the opportunity to obtain more savings in their electric bill.
