They will cover the travels during the Awards’ week

The Foundation Princess of Asturias will count with six 100% electric vehicles for its travels during the Award’s week. This is the result of a collaboration agreement between the Foundation Princess of Asturias and the EDP Foundation.

The cars have been handed in the Hotel la Reconquista, Oviedo, by the director of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins, to the director of the Foundation Princess of Asturias, Teresa Sanjurjo.

The six vehicles come from dealers of Grupo Resnova in the region and will carry out the batteries’ recharges in the points that EDP has in Asturias, both the ones that the energy company has in its installations, and the ones that are in public spaces. All six cars offer a great autonomy for travelling. Four are BMW (model i3) and two are Hyundai, models Kona and Ionic.

EDP has started up more than 75 recharge points for electric cars in public spaces of the region, a great infrastructure that responds and convers de needs of the users of these vehicles. In Spain there are already more than 100. Moreover, it sums more than 20 charging installations in its work centers.

In order to get informed about its functioning and manage the recharges, the innovative platform “EDP MoveOn” is available, through the web, www.edpmoveon.com, and through the phone app for Android and iOS. In addition to recharging their cars, users may know the location of these company’s points, the distance between them, their availability and type of pluggers, among other functions. It is also possible to recharge it with the mobility card of the company.

The electric vehicle is the only one with 0% emissions, while its use does not imply noise pollution. Its efficiency is three times superior to the combustion engine vehicles, and, regarding the charging prize, there is up to 90% of savings in comparison with traditional cars.

With these six vehicles, the Foundation Princess of Asturias reaffirms its strong commitment, acquired in 2011, of compensating and reducing the carbon footprint reduced during the Awards’ week. This action sums to a cooperation with the Foundation of Ecology and Development (ECODES ), that has granted, for its 8th consecutive year, the ZeroCO2 label to the Awards.

This reinforces the tight relationship between the Foundation Princess of Asturias and the EDP Foundation, at the same time that it reflects the strong commitment of both entities with sustainable mobility.
