The scholarships of the EDP Fundation, fruit of the agreement signed with the University of Oviedo, are remunerated and have an extendable duration of six months

Under the slogan, 'The energy of the future', the 175 students of the University of Oviedo who participate in the scholarship program of Fundación EDP received the diplomas that accredit their training in the energy company. The rector of the University of Oviedo, Santiago García, and the director of Fundación EDP, Nicanor Fernández, handed out the diplomas to the students. The event took place in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University.

This year, Fundación EDP arrecated one million euros to the program. The students, who began their formative period in October, carry out their internships in the different work centers and areas of the company. For example, there are students at the Aboño and Soto de Ribera thermal power plants, at the corporate headquarters in Oviedo or at the Roces work center in Gijón.

Fundación EDP scholarships, the result of the agreement signed with the University of Oviedo, are remunerated and have an extendable duration of six months. Each of the students is assigned a tutor, who helps and supervises their work.

This 2017-2018 academic year students from more than 30 specialties of the University were included, among which the Administration and Business Management degree and different studies given at the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Gijón stand out.

For students, this program is their first contact with the business world. From the first day they join work teams and participate in different projects.

With this program, EDP forces its close collaboration with the university community, within its commitment to the promotion of talent and knowledge.

In addition to the agreement with the University of Oviedo, Fundación EDP signed agreements with other Spanish universities and schools to favor the training of more students in the different facilities and work centers that the company has in other communities. Thus, more than 40 students are completing their training in Madrid, Cantabria, the Basque Country, Andalusia, Murcia, Galicia, Aragon, Catalonia, Navarre and the Valencian Community.

The objective of the Fundación EDP scholarship program is to facilitate practical training in EDP istudents of the University of Oviedo. It is the most outstanding practice plan of the University, as well as one of the most important initiatives developed by the foundation itself. Since its launch in 1983, more than 100 people who participated in the program have joined the EDP p's workforce in Spain.
