Media Markt and EDP become allies to sell electricity, gas and services

In the first weeks, the joint commercial association already accomplished more than 2.000 new contracts.

MediaMarkt Iberia, the leading consumer electronics distribution company in Spain, has reached an agreement with EDP, the world leader in renewables and one of the main operators in the Iberian energy market, to commercialize electricity, gas and energy services.

 

The offer, the product “Máximo Ahorro 24 horas”, is already available in 50 stores and on the online channel. In the first days of commercialization, 2.000 contracts have been already accomplished. In the upcoming months, it will be made available in the 38 remaining stores.

 

 

This EDP product is one of the most competitive offers on the market with a 20% discount on fix term gas and a 7% discount on electricity consumption.

 

 

More advantages of joining this energy plan are that EDP domestic customers in the liberalized market already have a 100% renewable supply of electricity, a differentiating factor that is managed through the Electricity Origin Guarantee System of the National Commission of Markets and Competition. Customers who sign up for this offer also get a promotional card topped up with 100 euros to spend at Media Market premises. EDP was the first company to launch a dual offer – electricity and gas - and has the first home’s dual services maintenance, “Funciona”.

 

 

Improve services’ strategies

 

 

This agreement is a further step in Media Mark’s strategy for services and customized solutions and completes its offer of consumer services for home (fiber, mobile and energy). This services can be contracted in all Media Markt stores, thanks to the advice of its specialists in the management and optimization of consumption in the customer’s homes.

 

 

“Our intention is to help consolidate EDP’s importance in the Spanish energy market. To do this, we will use all our commercial strength: at Media Markt we are great traffic generators at our points of sale and we have the best experts”, states Alejandro Codina, Chief Service Officer at MediaMarkt Iberia.

Electric mobility

 

 

Alejandro Codina also specified that “we are working to launch a project to install recharging points for electric vehicles at Media Markt facilities”.
