The Niemeyer Center will host the exhibition “Grabados eternos” by Picasso with the support of the EDP Foundation
The exhibition, which will open its doors in Avilés next February 20, demonstrates the artist’s excellence in engraving
The genius from Malaga par excellence is installing in Asturias for a few months. “Grabados eternos” gathers a series of prints from the artist Pablo Picasso, among which Suite Vollard (1930-1936) is highlighted. This is one of the few complete series in the world, and where the author reflects his personal life, obsessions, interests, and artistic influences. Composed of a hundred pieces, it is the masterpiece of 20th century engraving.
Moreover, the thirteen prints of El Entierro del Conde de Orgaz (edited in 1969) will be exhibited, which were published as a tribute to the Spanish pictorial tradition. Similarly, the nine prints of Les Cavaliers d’Ombre (1951-1953) will be able available for visits, plus four more: Retrato de Dora Maar (1939), Mujer en el sillón (1947), Cabeza de chica. Françoise (1974) and Jaqueline pañuelo negro vestido rojo (1958). The exhibition will also have several artist's cards and bibliophile books.
The exhibition will be open to the public from February 20 until May 31, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00, in the Oscar Niemeyer International Center Dome (Avilés).
