The Runner Fair returns to the EDP San Fermín Marathon
It will take place on the day of the race, June 8, in the Plaza de Toros of Pamplona
The Runner Fair is back, to be once again the heart of the EDP San Fermín Marathon, that will be held in Pamplona on Saturday, June 8. The compound will be installed in the Plaza de Toros of the capital of Navarra and will be the meeting point for participants of this race, that has three distances: 42k, 21k and 10k.
The fair will be open from 10h to 14h and from 16h to 19h, and visitors will be welcome to participate in different activities. They may choose an avatar to take a photo with in a podium and receive later the image by e-mail. Moreover, there will be a collaborative wall, in which a message can be left to support sport and bring to light the athletes’ emotions.
Likewise, people that come near may enjoy an installation in which they should share their effort, getting on a bike to pedal as fast as possible, as a symbol of energy and sport’s ethos. Another activity will take place on a field similar to an oversized billiards table. The player will have to throw a white ball and try to bounce it into the holes in the table to try to get the colored balls into the holes.
Besides that, some consolidated initiatives from EDP will be present in the Fair, such as Share your Energy, that encourages athletes to become guides for runners with visual impairment; Sincronizadas, platform in which women from the same areas organize to go for a run together; and Runner Icon, the design for web browsers to add to their movement tools the time taken to cover those distances running.
The EDP San Fermín Marathon began in 2013 and has since become a race of national relevance. It counts with EDP’s sponsorship, that organizes more than 30 races each year, in which more than 200 000 people take part.
As a “warm up” for this race, Sincronizadas will be organizing one of its traditional Meetings on Friday 31 and will count with the international athlete Maitane Melero as ambassador. The date will take place at 19.30 in the Yamaguchi Park.
