The second edition of the Spanish EDP Live Bands begins

Wednesday 13, February 2019

The winner group will perform live on the Festival NOS Alive and will have the opportunity to record its first album with Sony Music

EDP celebrates its second consecutive year the musical contest EDP Live Bands. After last year’s success in Spain and its great reception in Portugal since 2014 and in Brazil since 2016, the contest promoted by the energy company inspires once again the music of amateur groups that want to build up a reputation in the music industry.

The contest is aimed at groups from all music genres, as long as they do not have commercial relations with record labels.

The Spanish groups can already sign up, until March 20, in the contest’s website. They have to present an original track to participate.

Popular votes in this first stage will be open until April 24 through the website. The most voted, together with the ones selected by a jury of experts, will pass to the following phase: the semifinal.

During this second phase of the contest, that will take place between April 9 and 29, votes deciding the bands that will reach the final will take place. This great final will be celebrated as a concert on May 18 in the Cool hall of Madrid, and the winner of this Spanish second edition will be chosen.

Moreover, the winner bands of the three countries – Spain, Portugal and Brazil – will have the opportunity to perform live on the Festival NOS Alive of Lisbon 2019, and to record their first album with Sony Music.

Last year, the contest ended with the band “Vermú”, from La Mancha, as the winner. The members of the band played two original songs in the Teatro Barceló that delighted the jury and allowed them to expand their musical career, with their performance on the NOS Alive 2018.

Since the launching of this initiative in 2014, EDP has promoted more than 6 500 bands, boosting their musical careers with performances in festivals with international projection and album recordings. In the first Spanish edition, more than 340 bands participated.

This initiative has the support of Everything is New and Sony Music, and Mondo Sonoro as media partner. Apart from supporting the contest, the collaborators will be part of the jury.

This initiative reinforces EDP’s role as the official energy of music, and its commitment to promote national and international music.
