Somoano and Parajón win the VI Peñamayor Trail

Half a thousand people participated in the race that took place in Nava, the first of the EDP turias Grand Prix

Juan José Somoano, of GMD Cabrales, was proclaimed, on Sunday, March 18, the Asturias champion of trail races of the Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking Federation of the Principality of Asturias (FEMPA), when he won the VI Peñamayor Trail.The race passed through the Asturian council of Nava, with a distance of 31 kilometers and 3,208 meters of accumulated altitude, in which the athletes had to face the rigors of winter, since, in the high parts of the route, the snow was twenty centimeters high.

The winner, current spanishTrail silver, completed the race in three hours and seven minutes. The second and third places on the podium were occupied, respectively, by Carlos Sánchez, from Mueve-t GM Moscón, and Andrés García Blanco, from Avientu Solorunners. As for the female category, Desiré Parajón, of Avientu solorunners, was proclaimed champion of Asturias by crossing the finish line in the first place with a time of three hours and 51 minutes. In the second and third place of the race were Maria Polonio, from Corriendo por Morcín, and Raquel Ronco, from GM Auseva.

The Peñamayor II Speed ??Trail was also held, a 12-kilometer race with an accumulated altitute of 676 meters. This race is part of the official FEMPA competitions calendar "Gran Premio de Asturias EDP", which has the sponsorship of the electricity, gas and services company, EDP.
