The safest, most advanced technology, recommended by manufacturers.

Villaviciosa joins the sustainable mobility movement: the town inaugurated its first charging point for electric vehicles on public roads. The installation, located on Víctor García de la Concha street, is part of the agreement between the City of Villaviciosa and EDP ncourage the use of electric vehicles in the council.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by the mayor of Villaviciosa, Alejandro Vega Riego; and the director of Smart Home of EDP ña, Antonio González-Lamuño. To inaugurate the installation, one of the electric vehicles of the energy company's fleet was recharged.

Vega indicated that "the City Council of Villaviciosa joins a line of work necessary to move towards an increasingly sustainable mobility, something about which nothing has been done yet in Villaviciosa". On the other hand, he highlighted "the possibilities that open by having this recharging point, both for users of electric cars that can now come to Villaviciosa, and the City Council itself, which could be available for municipal services of electric vehicles, with the saving that it would mean".

For his part, Gonzalez-Lamuño stressed "the importance of this new facility, which reinforces both our commitment to sustainable mobility and our commitment and close relationship with Villaviciosa. This new point places the council as a reference in sustainable mobility and will allow users to complement the main recharge they make at home. "

The installation has the safest, most advanced technology, recommended by the manufacturers. It has two types of chargers, which guarantees compatibility with a greater number of vehicles.

Users can use this point after requesting the consistory for the card that allows recharges. With this card they can also recharge their vehicles at the points installed by EDP ollaboration with other municipalities, ten in total: five in Gijón; two in Pola de Siero and one in Candás, Salinas and another in Piedras Blancas. EDP intains its goal to expand this network in urban environments through collaborations with the Asturian town councils.

EDP iso leads the development plan for a rapid recharge network in Asturias. In addition to the point that is already operating at the Roces eco-station in Gijón, the company has reached agreements for new installations in service stations in Posada de Llanes, La Fresneda (Siero), Ribadesella, Cudillero, Avilés, Tapia de Casariego and Laviana . In the next weeks a fast point will be active at the Asturias Airport.

The company is also part of the Regional Table for the Promotion of Electric Mobility of the Principality of Asturias.

This extensive recharging network, both in urban environments and on fast roads, provides Asturias with the necessary infrastructure to promote the use of electric vehicles. It is a network that complements the points that users can install in their garages, where they perform the main recharging of the vehicle. In this regard, EDP rs its clients advantageous solutions adapted to their needs.

The use of the electric vehicle has many associated advantages, both environmental and economic. On the one hand, its use does not imply emissions or noise pollution. The savings, with respect to combustion vehicles, can reach up to 80%. On the other hand, the efficiency of these vehicles is three times higher than that of combustion, with a much lower maintenance cost.

Sustainable mobility is one of EDP's priorities. This is one of the areas that will most impact the energy sector and will be essential for the decarbonisation of transport, representing a growing percentage of car sales in the world.
