Caja Rural de Asturias signs with EDP the largest electricity supply contract in its history
It contemplates a consumption of more than 1.8 million kilowatts hours per year between for the offices and corporate facilities.
Caja Rural de Asturias has reached an agreement with EDP for the electrical power supply in all its facilities for the following 10 years. It is the longest electricity supply contract in the history of the Asturian cooperative entity.
The agreement comprises the supply of 100% renewable electricity to all the 112 offices and corporate offices of Caja Rural Asturias, 128 in total. All together they add up an annual consumption of more than 1.8 million kilowatts hour, the equivalent to the average consumption of 500 households.
Caja Rural Asturias and EDP strengthen their engagement with sustainability and renewable energies. Being electricity of renewable origin, the annual emission of 480 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere will be avoided, an impact in the air quality, similar to the one of 36 000 new trees.
The long-term contract modality provides very competitive energy prices in the volatile environment of the energy market, at the same time that it offers a greater visibility of energy costs.
Caja Rural de Asturias considers key the right integration of the environmental, social and governance criteria in the development of its financial activity. The signature of this agreement reinforces the entity’s engagement with sustainability and the environmental policies aiming to reduce the carbon footprint
