Marques, the first woman to hold this position in the company's history, has been a member of the Group's Executive Board of Directors since January 2021. She has also been a member of the Board of Directors of EDP Spain since that date, so she has first-hand knowledge of business matters. Before joining the EDP group, she was Executive Director and Vice-President of NOS, President of Apritel (Asocación Empresarial de Telecomunicaciones) and non-executive member of the Management Committee of SportTV.
She began her professional career in marketing at Procter & Gamble.
She holds a degree in Economics from the University of Porto and an MBA from Insead. Marques is also an adjunct professor at Porto Business School and at the Porto Economics Faculty.
Ana Paula Marques has spent most of her professional career in the areas of transformation, technology and digital, organisation, and B2C and B2B business management.
The new CEO's main challenges in Spain will be the integration and development of network assets, the consolidation of the commercial business and the challenge of the energy transformation of thermal power plants. EDP has a unique transformation project in Spain that foresees a future for all its thermal generation facilities.
