The EDP Group, an international energy group and world leader in renewable energy, has been distinguished by the Ethisphere Institute for its good management practices and business ethics policy for the eleventh consecutive year.

EDP is present in more than 28 markets, including Spain, where it is one of the benchmark operators in the energy sector, present in the generation, distribution and commercialization of energy and services. EDP is one of the companies present in a list that includes 136 companies. It is also one of the nine outstanding companies in the Energy & Utilities area, being the company that has been receiving this recognition for the most years.

This distinction recognizes the commitment assumed by the group, in all the geographies where it is present, with a solid and unequivocal ethical policy that is today a pillar of EDP's business and reputation. This commitment is based on principles such as promoting relationships of trust with all its stakeholders, acting with integrity in all areas of intervention, playing a leading and responsible role in the changes that the energy sector is undergoing and contributing to the construction of an environment that ensures a sustainable future for all.

EDP's ethics policy is based on a structural system in which its Code of Ethics stands out, a reference document published in 2005 and revised in depth in 2020; as well as the existence of the figure of the Ethics Ombudsman and committees dedicated to this matter. This system is complemented by the effort to take ethical issues into account on a daily basis, in particular through a constant practice of training and awareness-raising among its employees.

Recognized worldwide for its work in this field, this year the Ethisphere Institute has distinguished 136 companies from 22 countries and 45 sectors of activity. The evaluation is carried out through a model that takes into account the maturity and performance of management systems in terms of ethics and compliance, based on indicators such as culture, environment, social practices, governance or diversity, for example.

"Today, business leaders face increased demands to be ethical, responsible and trustworthy in order to drive positive change," says Ethisphere CEO Timothy Erblich, "We continue to be inspired by all members of the world's most ethical companies and their dedication to integrity, sustainability, governance and community. Congratulations to EDP for receiving the World's Most Ethical Company distinction," he adds.
