175 students from the University of Oviedo begin their training at EDP

Fundación EDP locates one million euros to the internship program

Fundación EDP's internship program is underway. 175 students from the University of Oviedo, from more than 30 specialties, are joining EDP week to carry out training practices during the 2017-2018 academic year.

The reception of the students took place this Wednesday in the Facultad de Formación del Profesorado y Educación (Faculty of Teacher Training and Education), in Oviedo. The program was presented by the Vice Chancellor of Students, Elisa Miguélez, and the director of the Fundación EDP, Nicanor Fernández. The presentation was also attended by Blanca Balduque, a former intern, who shared her experience in the internship program last year.

During the reception, the students received several training sessions on the activities carried out by the EDP p and the policies it develops in different areas such as information security, environment and prevention of occupational risks. In addition, students got to know the locations in which they will develop their practices, which cover different areas and facilities of the company.

Fundación EDP cates one million euros to this training program. After the internship application period, in September, the University of Oviedo selected 175 students from 33 specialties from different Faculties and Schools, as well as students who are pursuing master's degree. Subjects include Electrical Engineering, Commerce and Marketing, Chemistry, Economics or Law.

Each internship has a duration of six months and can be extended. The practices will be developed under the supervision of tutors, who will train the students. For the vast majority, incorporation into EDP heir first contact with corporate world.

In addition to the agreement with the University of Oviedo, Fundación EDP agreements with other universities and Spanish schools to encourage the training of more students in the facilities and workplaces that the company has in other communities. Thus, each year more than 40 students are added to the work centers of Madrid, Cantabria, Basque Country, Andalusia, Murcia, Galicia, Aragon, Catalonia, Navarra and Comunidad Valenciana.

The internship program of Fundación EDP to facilitate practical training in EDP istudents of the University of Oviedo. This is the most outstanding plan of practice of the University, as well as one of the most important initiatives developed by the Foundation itself. Since its implementation in 1984, more than 100 people who participated in the program have joined the EDP p in Spain.
