EDP shares its energy with Spanish healthcare providers

Friday 08, May 2020

It offers a 20% discount on electricity consumption to public health service professionals.

EDP has launched a new measure to support the work of healthcare professionals. The energy company is offering a 20% discount on electricity consumption for both healthcare staff and ambulance drivers who work in public health services.

This new measure, with which the energy company plans to help 20,000 customers, will be applied for two months for domestic consumption and both current and new EDP customers can take advantage of it. In addition, they will maintain the discounts and additional advantages they already enjoy with their tariffs, such as the consumption of 100% renewable electricity.

To apply for this aid, interested parties only have to prove that they are a sanitary household, by completing and sending the form hosted on this website.

With this new aid, EDP joins the effort and recognises the work carried out by Spanish healthcare professionals involved in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.

The energy company has been developing various aid measures, even before the declaration of the state of alarm, with the aim of helping to reduce the effects of the current situation on its customers and on society. Among other initiatives, the company has reinforced its customer service and offers plans to make bill payments more flexible.

In addition, and through the Customer Solidarity Fund, EDP is supplying free electricity to those customers who develop solidarity projects to help in the fight against COVID-19, such as the manufacture of handmade masks or the printing of protective visors in 3D.

Along the same lines, the company has joined in the work carried out by its hotel customers, who have lent their facilities to provide essential services. It provides them with free energy during these weeks. This is the case, for example, of Room Mate Hotels, Kike Sarasola's company, which has donated more than 860 rooms in Spain.

With all the measures it is taking, EDP is reinforcing its commitment to being the energy of the people at a time when it is precisely the people who are making great sacrifices to help others.
