Cárnicas Gállego will save 18% of its electricity consumption with a photovoltaic installation
It will produce each year the energy equivalent to the consumption of 100 households and will avoid the mission of 100 tons of CO2.
Cárnicas Gállego, reference company in the food sector, has just launched a self-consumption photovoltaic installation at its factory in Polígono de San Miguel, in Villanueva de Gállego (Zaragoza). The facility, that has been carried out by the energy company EDP, will enable them to save each year 18% of their electricity consumption.
The photovoltaic installation is located in the roof of the factory and occupies an area of 1 600 quadrat meters. It has a power of 250 kWp and will be able to capture solar energy and transform it into the energy equivalent to the average annual consumption of 100 households (370 000 kWh).
The remaining energy consumed by Cárnicas Gállego will be supplied by EDP, within the agreement that both companies have.
The energy saving sums to the environmental commitment of Cárnicas Gállego. Self-consumption through this installation will avoid the annual emission of 100 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, with a positive effect in the air’s quality, similar to the one that would be generated by 7 500 new trees.
As the sales director B2B of EDP Spain, Javier Flórez, points out, “the self-consumption of energy boosts the entrepreneurial competitivity through savings and efficiency, at the same time that it favors the environment’s protection. Cárnicas Gállego’s commitment places itself as a reference company and a sustainability model in Spain.”
Self-consumption is one of the energy solutions with the greater saving potential for households, as well as for companies and industries. Moreover, it has a positive impact and stimulates the economy and the local employment. The execution and start up of Cárnicas Gállego’s installation have generated more than 10 employs, mainly in the province of Zaragoza.
In its factory, Cárnicas Gállego elaborates a great range of first-quality fresh and cured sausages products. It has spaces for the cutting of products, as well as for the orders preparation, that it distributes in their area of operation (Aragón, La Rioja, the Basque Country and Navarra), and makes deliveries all over Spain through its online channel. It is, furthermore, provider of the main supermarket chains of the country.
With the installation and start up of this solar plant, EDP goes forward with the line of efficiency projects for companies, offering the last technological innovations, adapted to the needs of their clients. It achieves, thus, the increase of the entrepreneurial competitivity through the reduction of energy costs. The company has, moreover, a line of funding, so that the projects are funded through the savings generated.
