EDP will invest 90 00 euros in the installation of points in Nubledo, Cancienes, Los Campos, Las Vegas and Trasona

Corvera de Asturias joins electric mobility. The city council has awarded the tender for the installation of EDP’s charging points, that will invest 90 000 euros in the installation and launching of five points in the council. The agreement has been signed in the town hall by the mayor, Iván Fernández and the director of EDP Spain’s Smart House, Antonio González-Lamuño.

To the mayor, the charging points network for electric vehicle “was an unfinished business that we had in the city council, that is no longer so”, fulfilling thus “the goal of favoring the more efficient use of resources.” Likewise, Iván Fernández has ensured that “offering this service to the citizens, Corvera steps in the future”, and highlighted the fact that “the installation of five charging points in different locations of the municipality – where more than 15 000 people live -, entails that there will be approximately one point per every three thousand inhabitants, which turns Corvera into one of the municipalities with the larger charging network for electric vehicles within Asturias.”

For his part, González Lamuño highlighted that “this agreement turns Corvera in a role model and a strategic area for electric mobility, both because it has five points, and because of its location in the central area of the region. These five installations will have the most modern technology and will cover the charging needs of the electric vehicle users.”

These points will be located in the parking of the Las Vegas pools; in the multisport track of Los Campos; in Trasona’s health center; in Cancienes main road (AS-17) near San José’s building and the Casa Consistorial, in Nubledo. With these locations, established by the town hall, “there will be at least one charging point in each of the urban nucleus of the council, as we considered that in the rural areas the characteristics of the single-family’s homes enable the charges at home. Moreover, we have also installed a point in the parking of the Council, specially thinking about the recharge of the vehicles of the municipal fleet”, pointed out the mayor.

The electric vehicle users may do the recharges through the website www.edpmoveon-com or through the innovative mobile application “EDP MoveOn”. Through the website or the app, one may also get to know the locations of the points, the distance until them, their availability and type of plugs, among other functions.

With these new five points, EDP will sum a total of 62 in the region, all of them in public spaces. The use of the electric vehicle entails multiple advantages, both environmental and economic. On the one side, its use does not imply CO2 emissions nor noise pollution. On the other hand, the efficiency of these vehicles is three times superior to the motor ones, and, regarding the charging prize, savings go up to 80% in comparison with the diesel ones.

Sustainable mobility and, specifically the electric vehicle, is one of the company’s priorities. It is one of the issues that will impact the most the energy sector, and it will be essential for the transport’s decarbonization, representing an increasing percentage of the automobilist sales in the world.
