Through the EDP Solidaria program, the foundation of the energy company will promote projects that improve people’s life quality.
The deadline to submitting initiatives will be open from March 1 to March 31 on the web www.fundacionedp.es

Promoting energy efficiency, boosting rural development and fighting against the depopulation of rural areas, and favoring the attention towards elderly. Those are the fields in which the EDP Foundation will focus its support in this sixth edition of the EDP Solidaria program, with which it aims to improve the well-being and life quality of people in a vulnerable situation. In total, it will allocate 60 000 euros to the selected projects in Spain.

This year, those NGOs and groups desiring to participate, should submit their projects between March 1 and 31. The preselection of projects will be announced on June 30, and the final resolution, before September 30. All information is available on the website www.fundacionedp.es, as well as the application form.

The sixth edition brings innovations, as the program has evolved since its inception back in 2015. The EDP Foundation has aligned the program with the commitment of the energy company with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the Agenda 2030.

The projects presented this year must have a measurable impact in, at least, one of this three fields: the promotion of energy efficiency and of the equitable access to energy; the promotion of rural development and the battle against the depopulation of rural areas; and the attention towards the elderly’s’ needs. All the submitted projects should aim to benefit the greatest possible number of people.

Within these fields, projects including the self-consumption of solar energy in its measures, will have a special relevance.

In 2019, 18 entities took part, receiving a total of 600 000 euros to boost and develop their initiatives. Among them, the Down Syndrome Foundation of Madrid, Action against hunger, MedicusmUndi or Cáritas. The projects of these entities benefit more than 34 000 people.

Since its launching in 2015, EDP Solidaria has supported 85 projects in Spain, to which it has allocated a total of 2.5 million euros. Between all the initiatives, more than 200 000 people have been benefited.
