EDP joins the Malaga Marathon as sponsor

The 7th Malaga Marathon has presented today the main novelties of this edition in an event celebrated in the bar and production facility of San Miguel, in Malaga.

The presentation was attended by the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre; the councilor of sports of Malaga, Elisa Pérez de Siles; the director of the production facilities of San Miguel in Malaga, José Manuel Huesa; the director of the 50th anniversary event of San Miguel in Malaga, Laura Quero; the director of Brand and Communication of EDP Spain, Carmen Fernández; and the general director of Octagon, David Serrahima.

 

1st Boquerones’ race

The most renowned novelty this year has been the announcement of the 1st Boquerones’ race, official 5k race that will take place the same day as the Malaga Marathon (December 4, 2016). It will share part of its circuit and will be under the same organization as the marathon.

The Boquerones’ race will go through an urban circuit over the pavement and will have its start and finish line in the marathon’s route. Participants will run the first 2.5 km and then go back over that same circuit to complete the 5 km.

Registrations can be made through the website www.maratonmalaga.com from today, starting with a special prize of 12 € for the first thousand people registered. Unemployed, retirees and people with disabilities will have a special prize of 10 € through the whole registration period.

With this new proposal, the organization aims to expand the offer for the popular runner and attend all participants’ needs. The goal is to enjoy a whole running day in Malaga, a city ideal to run in December.

 

Great satisfaction from the mayor

Francisco de la Torre, mayor of Malaga, has highlighted the importance of the sponsorships for the celebration of the race. “The marathon entails a relationship between San Miguel and the city of Malaga, which is becoming tighter every time. Moreover, it is a pleasure coming here, in the context of its 50th anniversary, and present this commitment with a race that is already part of this new Malaga, of this projection of Malaga that we want. Therefore, we are really pleased to count with you and EDP, that is also joining us, and with the general director of Octagon, that has been working these years so that Malaga, like its marathon, increases its importance, as it has done in other aspects, like in the cultural, innovative and technological projection. These sponsorships give more strength, more capacity and more visibility to celebrate the race, on December 4.”

 

San Miguel 0.0 %, new naming sponsor of the Malaga Marathon

San Miguel celebrates 50 years of production in the city of Malaga and, under the otto “50 years being boquerones”, the production center will celebrate this anniversary with different initiatives and events in the Andalusian city.

Within the activity calendar of this celebration, the brand San Miguel 0.0 % has decided to support our race, becoming the naming sponsor of the Malaga Marathon. The brand of beer without alcohol will also sponsor the 1st Boquerones’ race.

The director of the events for San Miguel’s 50th anniversary, Laura Quero, has valued this new sponsorship agreement as follows: “This year, we celebrate our 50th Anniversary in the city and we want, more than ever, to be with the citizens of Malaga in their moments of leisure and wellbeing. Furthermore, this sponsorship reinforces San Miguel’s historical commitment with sport, and contributes to boost a healthy lifestyle. EDP, new presenting sponsor in the Malaga Marathon

The energy company EDP joins as sponsor of the Malaga Marathon with important novelties. It will be the official energy of the race and launches an exclusive promotion for participants: EDP will return the registration cost to the runners that change their energy contract and join the company.

This promotion is already available on the website http://www.edpmaratones.es/. Moreover, and through this same website, current EDP clients can get free race bibs for the Malaga Marathon.

“EDP is clearly putting faith in running and the Malaga Marathon is a race of great importance for us. That is why we wanted to offer participants the opportunity to get back the cost of their race bib thanks to EDP”, claimed the director of Brand and Communication of EDP Spain, Carmen Fernández.
