The solidary indoor race #EDPEchaUnCable overcomes 10 million steps for Cruz Roja’s Plan RESPONDE
EDP will transform these steps into financial support for the employment area of Cruz Roja’s Plan RESPONDE
The first Indoor Solidary Race #EDPEchaUnCable has achieved its goal: to sum, among all participants, more than 10 million steps, this Sunday, April 19. The energy company EDP, promoter of this initiative, will transform these steps into financial support for the employment area of Cruz Roja’s Plan RESPONDE.
The winner of Europe’s and the world’s marathon, and ambassador of this competition, Martín Fiz, encouraged the thousands of participants to keep active and sum steps to this initiative, uploading photos of their pedometer to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram with the hashtags #EDPEchaUnCable and the number of steps taken.
EDP began this race bringing 2 million solidary steps that, thanks to the high turnout, have turned into those more than 10 million steps, that translate themselves into 50 000 euros of support that will enable, through Cruz Roja’s Plan RESPONDE, to contribute to a specific action project and integral answer against COVID-19 for the following two months, that expects to reach more than 1 350 000 people.
The initiative has slipped through the classification of Twitter’s trending topics in Spain this morning. More than 1 200 individual users have shared more than 1 500 posts on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. The company will continue to register steps throughout the day today.
