During his visit to the EDP pavilion, Enrique Fernández learned about the pioneering energy storage and green hydrogen projects that the company has for the Aboño and Soto de Ribera power plants.

The Minister of Industry, Employment and Economic Promotion of the Principality of Asturias, Enrique Fernández, has visited EDP’s pavilion during the celebration of the 64th edition of Asturias’ International Trade Fair. During his visit, joined by representatives of the energy company, he has highlighted EDP’s commitment with the region and its future, pointing out the exemplarity with which the firm “is facing the transition process, from the energy generation through fossil fuels, towards new renewable and sustainable sources.”

During the tour around EDP’s pavilion, the minister was joined by the managing director of EDP Networks Spain, Miguel Mateos; Alejandra López, EDP’s Distribution Manager; Emilio Fernández, director of EDP Spain’s Hydroelectric Power Plants, and two representatives of the new Hydrogen Unit of EDP, Rafael Cabañeros, director of Development and Execution of Hydrogen Projects, and José Manuel Pérez, director of the Hydrogen Unit Regulation. Both shared with Enrique Fernández the ambitious projects that the company, as main character of energy transition, has for the Aboño and Soto de Ribera power plants: to transform the first into the Asturian valley of green hydrogen, and the second into Asturias’ great green battery. The Minister seemed to be satisfied all the time, both with EDP’s pavilion tour, and with the company’s plans, approved by the Principality’s government.

EDP’s pavilion in FIDMA shares the new brand’s narrative: “Changing Tomorrow Now. Cambiamos ahora al mañana”, with which EDP, that leads the energy transition and the generation of 100% renewable energy, confirms its commitment to be 100% green by 2030, being 20 years ahead of others.
