To celebrate a decade of EDP volunteering, we organised the conference "The role we can play". An opportunity to inspire us all to change tomorrow, today.

The event, which will be broadcast live, will take place on 14 December at 15:45 Spanish time and will be attended by Vera Pinto Pereira, member of the EDP Executive Board of Directors and will have as a special guest Shiza Shahid, entrepreneur, women's rights advocate and co-founder of the Malala Fund, together with Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai.

The main theme of the event will be corporate volunteering and its importance today, and other related topics will be addressed, such as the role of companies in generating social impact, the importance of social partnerships to enhance the impact on communities and the role of volunteering in leadership development.

This will be an event with internal and external visibility, open to employees, partners, companies, organisations, in the end open to all those interested and curious about this topic.

This event, in addition to special guest Shiza Shahid, will feature interventions by António Bello, executive director of Just a Change; Sara Vicente Barreto, director of Morgan Stanley and founder of the organisation "A small gesture, a big help"; and Ruth Lewin, corporate director of sustainability and chair of the board of IAVE (International Association for Volunteer Effort).

2021 is the year in which we mark a historic milestone for EDP: 10 years of volunteering. We know that the world cannot be changed without people and their communities, and that is why we have invested, throughout this decade, in this social and solidarity component.

Since then, we have had more than 43,000 participations and 300,000 volunteer hours worldwide. We are also proud that 2 out of every 10 employees volunteer through the company in projects around the world.
