They are located at number 59 street La Cámara and number 2 street Dr. Jiménez Díaz.

EDP has overseen the installation of the two first charging stations for electric vehicles that will operate in the streets of Avilés, at number 39 street La Cámara and number 2 street Dr. Jiménez Díaz.

The event held for its entry into service was attended by the Councillor for Mobility of the City Council of Avilés, Pelayo García, and the head of Sustainable Mobility of EDP Spain, Javier Izquierdo.

Pelayo García has highlighted the importance of this milestone for the city’s electric mobility, given that it is a cleaner and more sustainable way of propulsion than the ones based in combustion. The Plan for Sustainable Urban Mobility of Avilés, that is currently in its second process of public participation, expects electric mobility to be gaining importance over the following years.

EDP, that already had two charging stations in the public parking lot of the Plaza España, and another one in the gas station Avia of the Lugo avenue, expects to install in the streets of Avilés thirteen charging stations, with an implementation plan that divides in three stages that would be undertaken according to the development of the electric vehicle market.

The first stage consists of the start up of two stations, already operative, in La Cámara and Jiménez Díaz, to which soon will be summed a third one at the number 20 of the street José Cueto, with an application of installation already approved.

The second stage would include the launching of four recharging stations in the following locations: number 9, street El Marqués; number 2, street Hermanos Espolita; number 12, street La Toba; and number 25, street Reconquista.

Lastly, the third stage would entail the installation of other four points: at number 1, street Esther Carreño; number 3, street Narváez; number 5, square La Hispanidad; and number 22, street Pelayo.

The management of these points is carried out through the platform EDP Move On. Through this app, drivers know the location of the installation, the distance till it, the type of plug and its availability in real time. In the app there are more than 800 points available, more than 100 of which, in Asturias.
